What to Do in Common Dental Emergencies

Knocked-Out Tooth

  • Hold by the crown, not the root

  • Rinse gently if dirty — do not scrub

  • Keep the tooth in place in the mouth if possible, or store it in milk or cool water

  • Call us immediately

Broken Tooth

  • Rinse with warm water

  • Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling

  • Call for urgent care

Bitten Tongue or Lip

  • Apply pressure with a clean cloth

  • Use a cold compress for swelling

  • If bleeding doesn’t stop, go to the ER

Object Stuck Between Teeth

  • Gently try to remove with floss

  • Do not use sharp tools

  • Call us if you can’t remove it

Quick action can make all the difference in saving a tooth or preventing complications.

What Our Happy Patients Are Saying

Abirra N

These dentists are very compassionate, knowledgeable, and take the time to listen to your dental needs. I am so grateful that they gave me back my confidence and bright smile. The staff is super friendly, attentive, and informative.

Elizabeth B

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Brummel for several years, and I think he’s terrific – kind, careful, and always willing to explain whatever is going on. I had a root canal yesterday, and it didn’t hurt at all. He, and his assistant Sue, are the best dental team I’ve ever had.

Dante M

The dentists are all skilled professionals and show a genuine caring for their patients. They took the time to identify treatments that needed to be done, why they needed to be done, and got them completed with little to no discomfort or inconvenience. The dental assistants, hygienists, and ad min team all add to the caring and professional environment I now appreciate at PDG. I am happy I made the move.
